How do I know what courses to approve for study abroad?
Generally one person in a department is assigned to approve study abroad courses for the major or minor. Elective credits and Core are approved by the dean’s office. How do I advise a student who wants to apply to a program not listed on your website?
Please refer them to our office. Students cannot receive study abroad credit for work on a non-approved program, but they can petition to participate in highly prestigious programs like the London School of Economics.
Are scholarships available for study abroad students?
Yes. Students participating in TCU or TCU-Approved programs can apply for merit and need-based study abroad scholarships. Regular financial aid also applies. Non-credit and non-approved programs are not eligible for scholarships and aid.
How do study abroad credits work?
Study abroad students on TCU or TCU-Approved Programs earn TCU credit (not transfer credit) that applies towards their major, minor, core or general elective hours and counts towards their TCU GPA.
