I have heard I will use per diem rates for meals abroad on my reimbursement. Where can I find that information?
The per diem policy is not university-wide. It applies to faculty and staff in certain colleges/units that have notified Financial Services. To learn more about the Per Diem Policy & Rates, visit the Travel Registry & Policies page.
What is the Global TCU Travel Registry? And who needs to register?
The Global TCU Travel Registry records international travel for TCU faculty and staff. It is a critical component of TCU’s international emergency response system and is used to verify insurance coverage with On Call International. All TCU employees traveling internationally on TCU business or using TCU funds must register their travel.
Am I covered by health insurance while abroad?
Yes, all TCU students, faculty and staff traveling abroad on TCU programs or business are covered under the university’s global assistance and insurance plan with On Call International. We verify coverage through the Global TCU Travel Registry, so be sure to register your travel!
Is there funding available to develop study abroad programs?
Yes, you can apply for an Instructional Development Grant through TCU Research and visit with your Dean or Unit Head under which the course will be offered. Unfortunately, the Center for International Studies does not have separate funding to create programs.
I want to take a group of students abroad. What do I need to do?
We encourage you to secure approval from your dean about this at least 6 months prior to departure. With dean’s approval, you can then begin to work through the steps of Traveling with Students Abroad.
I have a great opportunity for a partnership abroad. How can I develop a formal agreement between our institutions?
Partnerships, both formal and informal, can advance the work of individual faculty and staff as well as the university’s mission. Where can I learn more about international education?
The Center for International Studies offers workshops, training, and gatherings for TCU faculty and staff interested in international education. We advertise events on our Professional Development page, which also offers information about funding, professional associations, and other opportunities within the field.
How do I advise a student who wants to apply to a program not listed on your website?
Please refer them to our office. Students cannot receive study abroad credit for work on a non-approved program, but they can petition to participate in highly prestigious programs like the London School of Economics.
Are scholarships available for study abroad students?
Yes. Students participating in TCU or TCU-Approved programs can apply for merit and need-based study abroad scholarships. Regular financial aid also applies. Non-credit and non-approved programs are not eligible for scholarships and aid.
