Sydney Vance: Blog Post #2
Over the past month I have spent time adjusting to my new home. It really has become that, a home. I have made new friends, found restaurants I love and will frequent, and restaurants I will never go to again. I have explored. I saw the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Montjuïc, and so much more. We’ve gone shopping. Travelled to Lisbon, Portugal and Milan and Lake Como, Italy. I found a workout place that I love. I have adjusted to classes. And I have fallen in love with Barcelona.
Coming abroad, I was nervous. I didn’t know very many people coming here, but very quickly that changed. My roommates were so welcoming and knew quite a few people, and now they have all become my friends too. We have gone out to dinners and traveled together, and I am thrilled that they will come back to Texas with me, because even though we just met, I cannot imagine life without them. We also have 4 neighbors from Syracuse that we have become very close with and will be traveling with!
I haven’t experienced a lot of home sickness, yet, however, I do crave meals cooked by my mom or Chipotle every now and then. Obviously, I miss my people, but I also feel a sense of home here. My family is coming to visit in a month, too, so that should help any unease.
I can’t wait to continue exploring Europe and Barcelona!! Here are some pictures from my abroad experiences so far:)
