Pop-Ups Galore!
Seoul is one of the most visited cities in the world, and as a result, there is always something going on, whether it be busking in the streets or spotting an idol on your way to class. (This happened two days ago at Yonsei University – Yunjin from LeSerrafim was spotted doing an interview on our campus!) But what I find to be the most exciting are pop-ups, which are stores or events that are only around for a limited time. Sometimes you get free items just for going or you might just receive some small discounts (or it might just be a photo opportunity).
I grew up in the South, so pop-ups seemed so secretive and mysterious to me, and not to mention that they generally only happen in New York or Los Angeles in America. Going to a pop-up seemed so unattainable, but now I can visit a pop-up any time I want ! There’s even a neighborhood famous for pop-ups, called Seongsu. My personal favorites are the K-pop or K-drama pop-ups because of the fan interactions and photo opportunities! I have already visited Stray Kids, ATEEZ, IU, and ENHYPEN pop-ups, and I have many more planned during my stay. Even better, I just found out that the subway station closest to me just opened a pop-up themed around my favorite show! The staff were so nice that they gave me an extra character card after completing all the missions since they could tell I loved the show so much.
There are also K-beauty pop-ups that offer free beauty products! Yesterday I went to an INNISFREE pop-up, where I received a free cleanser just for stopping by. Going to these sorts of pop-ups has quickly become a favorite pastime of mine here.
