Isabella Nastas: Blog Post #2

Hi all! I’ve officially been in Rome for two weeks, and I’m loving it more and more every day. I already feel like I know the area around me so well, yet every day I stumble across new spots in the city.

Near AUR we have two amazing cafes: Home Baked and Caffe Gli Archi. Both serve American style breakfast items and delicious coffee. Home Baked offers sandwiches and wraps during lunch and my favorite is the Leila wrap, their take on a chicken caesar wrap. They also have a delicious breakfast bagel with eggs, bacon, cheese, and avocado, which always hits the spot. Cafe Gli Archi serves a cafeteria style lunch buffet which usually features pasta, vegetables, and protein. It’s nice to have these spots close by for a quick bite or to stay and study.

I just found my new favorite gelato place, Gelateria Giuffre, which is just a five minute walk from our apartments. They have so many amazing flavors of authentic gelato. After going yesterday for my post-lunch treat, I brought my friends back just a few hours later because I needed them to try it!

My favorite areas to walk around so far are downtown Trastevere and the streets surrounding the Pantheon. Trastevere is full of windy cobblestone streets that are filled with cute shops, cafes, and restaurants. I could spend all day there and never get bored, and it’s only 20 minute walk from my apartment!

Rome feels small and homey, which I love, but also like a place I could explore forever. Ciao for now!
