Michael Howell: Blog Post #1

My name is Michael Howell, I am currently a junior at TCU with a double major in Finance and Accounting, as well as a minor in Global Business. My minor requires me to study abroad, but my desire to do so in Spain goes much deeper. Growing up in Texas, many of the people I have been surrounded with speak Spanish as a first language. This has piqued an interest in me to learn the language as well, after 2 years, I believe that living in Madrid will be the final step in my journey of becoming bilingual.

I am a kid from a single parent household with virtually no money growing up, so when I was presented the opportunity to use my scholarship to study abroad, I knew immediately that I must take it and run. I want this experience not only for myself, but for all the kids growing up in my community that are facing the same struggles I faced. I want them to know that anything is possible if they put their mind to it and that they are not confined to the single city and way of living that they are growing up in. I am most excited about traveling and exploring places while in Europe as travel is much cheaper.

I am excited to share my journey and experiences while studying abroad and cannot give the lord enough thanks for the opportunity.
