You may have questions about how to register for classes or housing for the semester you return. See On-Site Considerations for advice.
As you enter a new culture and explore more of your new surroundings your initial excitement may fade a little and you may begin to experience what is commonly called “culture shock.” Culture shock is completely normal, and can affect everyone differently. As you establish a new routine many things may seem confusing, strange, or even silly but always make an effort. Keep trying, and if you keep an open mind, stay flexible, and keep an open positive attitude you will begin to adjust your behaviors and attitudes to reflect those of your host culture. When you return, you may experience reverse culture shock adjusting to life in the U.S. Read more about Reverse Culture Shock here.
